Translation for non-Norwegians:

PANEL 1:
Mikkel the fox is sitting and writing on a blackboard. He is writing his name, “MIKKEL”.
Mikkel: “♪ ♫“

PANEL 2:
For no apparent reason, the blackboard explodes. Mikkel is so startled he falls into the large top hat that’s behind him.
Mikkel: “Help! The blackboard exploded!”
Blackboard: “BANG!”

PANEL 3:
Mikkel’s father has arrived, and looks disapprovingly at Mikkel — who is still hiding in the top hat, though he’s not very good at hiding since his tail sticking out.
Mikkel’s father: “Mikkel, haven’t I said that you’re not allowed to play in my top hat?”
Mikkel: “But Dad…!”
Caption: “Next: Mikkel writes a letter!”

If you’re not Norwegian, this comic will likely make no sense to you. If you are Norwegian, you’ll immediately get it. …well, it probably won’t make much sense if you actually think about how absurd it is, but you’ll get it.

See, this comic is a dramatization of an old Norwegian nursery song about a fox named Mikkel, whose amazing ability to write does not prepare him for the shock and surprise when the blackboard suddenly explodes, and so he jumps into Dad’s top hat.

I will admit I made up the third panel, because the song says nothing about what Dad said about Mikkel using his hat as a hiding place. In my version, at least he wasn’t pleased.

There are two more verses to the song. They’re about Mikkel writing a letter and what happens to that letter. I won’t spoil the ending in case I decide to make another comic, but I can reveal this much to you: The letter does not explode.
